If there’s one thing First Lady Michelle Obama will be remembered for (no, not her arms!) it’s that she was all about helping Americans lead healthier lives through balanced diets and exercise. She launched Let’s Move, an initiative dedicated to solving childhood obesity, put her stamp on the White House Garden, and appeared on Sesame Street to talk about the importance of a healthy breakfast.

“The reason a healthy breakfast is important is because it gives you lots of energy to have fun and play with your friends. It even helps you think and focus and learn better at school,” First Lady Michelle Obama told Grover. (Spoiler alert: The silly monster steals all of Mrs. O’s breakfast!)

In the episode, she’s served oatmeal, yogurt, fruit salad, and low-fat milk. What does she eat in real life? When an Eating Well reporter asked her a few years ago, she had eaten scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, and grapefruit earlier that morning.

“Delicious, healthy, and nearly in line with MyPlate,” the reporter said. Not bad — especially compared to my random breakfast of oatmeal, coffee, and leftover holiday cookies. (What? They had nuts in them, so they were kinda healthy!)
