Lee Mayer was inspired to start Havenly when she found traditional interior design services were out of her range. Today, the website matches users with interior decorators starting at just $79 for a room refresh. The site has also recently made the leap to brick and mortar, with complimentary design consultations happening through the remainder of 2018 at their Boston pop-up, Hideaway. In honor of Hideaway’s opening, we asked Mayer to share some of her favorite home essentials, from $6 candles to wine glasses worth splurging on.

10 Things That Say ‘Home’: The people might be what really makes a house a home, but great stuff can help too. We’re asking some of our favorite people what 10 things make their space feel like their own.

Mint Mattress, starting at $750 for a king at Amazon

“Because sleep is precious and an incredible mattress is worth its weight in gold. Luckily, Tuft & Needle makes affordable premium level memory foam mattresses. And it comes in a box, which is pretty convenient and cool.”

“I enjoy quite a bit of variation when it comes to temperature. I like it really warm during the day and really cool at night. The Nest helps me control everything from my phone, so I save energy when I’m not there, and I don’t even have to get out of bed to warm up the bathroom in the winter.”

“My favorite way to add a pop of color to a room is with books. This company makes it easier to find the colors you’re looking for when it comes to the book’s spine. They have beautiful options, new and vintage, that are sure to liven up your bookshelf.”
