The day of family, friends, and good food to be thankful for is just around the corner. If you’re hosting Thanksgiving this year and looking for a way to make your table extra-special without taking too much time away from your host duties, here are a pair of centerpiece ideas that you can make in around 10 minutes for $10 or so.

It’s easy to get caught up in all the details of hosting Thanksgiving and become a little overwhelmed. As much as we all love to be inspired by picture-perfect autumnal table settings, we know that they’re not necessarily possible in real life. You may be on a budget or short on time (or both), so these simple, affordable ideas will save you time and money and still let you celebrate in style.

Leaf-Wrapped Candleholders

MATERIALS (all readily available at dollar stores):

  • 3 vases, $1 each
  • 3 candles, $1 each
  • Twine or ribbon, $1
  • Double-sided tape, $1
  • Leaves, free

After you (or the kids) collect some leaves in your favorite fall shapes and colors, simply use a small piece of double-sided tape on the back of the leaves to place them around the vases as you like. Next, hold them in place and wrap with a piece of twine or ribbon. Place your candles inside and you’re done!

Yarn-Covered Recycled Bottles

MATERIALS:

  • Yarn, $5 (or free if you have scraps)
  • Grocery store flowers, $5-$10
  • Recycled bottles, free

The budget on this one is a bit flexible depending on whether you already have some yarn hanging around and how much you want to spend on flowers. And you don’t even need to spend time scraping the labels off the bottles because you’ll be covering them up with the yarn! Attach the yarn with a piece of tape, then proceed to wrap the yarn around the bottle, switching colors along the way using a simple little knot that you can tuck under the yarn. Try and find bottles of different shapes, color, and sizes in your recycling bin, and mix in a few of your own glasses to add some variety to this crafty centerpiece.
