Marlène considers herself a decor magazine junkie. She lives in a 950-square-foot flat in a duplex she shares with her daughter Corine and her boyfriend Maxime, and it’s inspiring publications like Martha Stewart Living and IDEAT that helped her completely renovate the kitchen and bathroom, as well as decorate the entire space. As the co-founder of Mama Coco Vintage, she’s also filled the space with vintage finds from various eras.

A huge fan of color, European interiors, kitsch objects, and Martha Stewart, her home brilliantly reflects all of these elements. And her philosophy toward design is seen in every room: She prefers the idea of “unstyled” decor. Using a mix of different objects, her family’s home is effortlessly beautiful and comfortable.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

My Style: Vintage Eclectic. I just love to be unstyled.

Inspiration: Color. French and European interiors. Everything I see when travelling. Martha Stewart. Preloved objects and pieces of furniture usually have a story to tell; I like that.

Favorite Element: My kitchen shelving with my favorite vintage kitchenware.

Biggest Challenge: Downsizing from a three-story house to a 950-square-feet unit.

What Friends Say: So cozy and bright!

Biggest Embarrassment: Don’t look at my doors; I still need to restore them…

Proudest DIY: All frames and mirrors were installed by me! You can now call me the drillmaster!

Biggest Indulgence: My Caesarstone countertop, my bathroom sink (a Philippe Stark reproduction), and my soon-to-be upholstered couch.

Best Advice: You can always give a second chance to a piece of furniture or an object, even if it’s not in good shape. Let your creativity go free and DIY!

Dream Sources: Art & Décoration magazine, Marie-Claire Idées, Martha Stewart Living, IDEAT and many more… I’m a decoration magazine junkie…I would also love to go to California to Mid-Century Mobler and buy all the furniture and objects that I dream of.
