Painting stripes on stairs is not a new idea, but in Liz’s Chicago home, the painted stripe is continued on the adjacent wall, drawing the eye up, making the ceilings feel taller and making a plain stairwell look awesome.
Make a “faux” hanging bed
Liz’s bedroom gets a major dose of bold by the appearance of a hanging bed. It’s just an easy DIY illusion, though! The bed frame is attached to the wall and supported by a floor platform you can’t see. Liz then attached some rope to the ceiling and the bed frame, making it look like you could swing your way to slumber.
Make plain white shelves pop with a contrasting dark stain on the outside
Contrast is always great for adding a graphic element to a room, and if you have plain white shelves, you can make them feel a lot more sophisticated (as well as add interest to the entire room) by painting or staining the outside and the edges a dark brown or black.
Add sass with brass (curtain rods)
If the color of your wall paint and room decor palette might benefit from the addition of warm brass metallic accents, consider including brass curtain rods into the mix.
