I’m all for pale, creamy walls, but surely every home needs at least one room painted in a color that’s deep, dramatic, and just a little bit dangerous? Here are 10 gorgeously, glamorously dark colors available from Behr.

Dark blues like Behr’s Evening Hush (770F-6), above, have the lovely ability to make rich, warm materials like wood, bronze, and cowhide look even richer and warmer.

However, was there ever a color better suited to brown wood and leather than Behr’s Mosaic Tile (520D-7), a dark, luxurious teal? Probably not.

If you think gunmetal grey is the perfect color for walls, handbags, and pretty much everything else, Behr’s Beluga (770F-7) is the color for you.

Blue-black is one of my very favorite colors, and Behr’s Starless Night (PPU14-20) balances the bright with the dark perfectly.

Taking things a step further and darker, I am obsessed with Behr’s Night Shade (740F-7). It’s as close to black as paint can get without quite being black, and it’s gorgeously deep.

The delicious-sounding Chocolate Sparkle (770B-7) is one of those complex browns that can look purple, burgundy, and brown, depending on the light- and sometimes all at the same time!

Behr’s Painted Turtle (710F-6) is a classic charcoal grey that allows colorful art and furnishings to truly pop.

Mark didn’t share the name of the intriguing near-black paint he used on the door, but I’m happy to settle for the appropriately-named Midnight Dream (570F-7) on the walls.

Behr’s Silver Hill (750F-5) is another great all-purpose grey and is one that plays well with all of the other paints in Mark’s colorful home.

Between Kim Myles’ home above and this dining room painted in Peacock Tail (S-H-520) by Behr, I’m convinced that dark teal is the most glorious color available. It’s exciting without being obnoxious, dramatic without being flashy.
