What I Love About My Small Home:: The greatest part about living where I do is the history. Charlie Chaplin built this complex in 1924 to house actors who were working at the studios nearby. I feel lucky to get to wake up in a place that had a part in making Hollywood so great. It feels like I live in Snow White's village, and inside my teensy cave is the best place to curl up and read a book or stay in on a rare rainy day. Everywhere you look there are wonky windows, hand carved wood details, and gorgeous stained glass. It's magical. It's hard not to wax poetic...if you came here you would understand!

What I Love About My Small Home:: We love that we live here together and that our home reflects who we are. We are minimalists and enjoy living small. But this space never really feels small. It has this great open layout and high ceilings, which gives it a loft-like feel. We also love our community, the artwork that we've created for the apartment, and all the light and love that streams in every day.

What I Love About My Small Home:: Having a place to display what I've created, and found in my own way. I love the cozy cottage feel to my place, and being able to extend out into my yard, allowing more people to enjoy the home without being cramped inside. Having a private, fenced-in yard allows me to work on projects and still be in an area where I can walk/skateboard to all the places I hang out.

What I Love About My Small Home:: Our possessions reflect the things and people we love: Ryan's granddad made our coffee table, his mom painted most of our artwork, and we have a great collection of family pictures and furniture from my grandparents' house. The first thing we ever bought together (a Dia de los Muertos diorama) is on the shelf in our bedroom. It reminds us that we created this space together. We are proud that we have taken advantage of the limited space we have, and have created a home that is comfortable and relaxing. We share compatible styles that kind of meld into "mad scientist." We like to show off our taxidermy bugs, comic books, vinyl records, and Star Wars things!

What I Love About My Small Home:: My small open space studio is very airy, cozy and warm. I really love the light I get all year round. My home doesn’t really have rooms, but it has several well defined spaces: living, kitchen, dining, sleeping, dressing. Apart form the kitchen space, everything else can be easily moved, so the space always looks different. I never get bored of moving things around and reconfiguring the plan.

What I Love About My Small Home:: First of all, its situation on the 7th floor of my 16 floor building, with windows looking west/south-west, which means it's always full of light, sunny from noon to sunset, followed by often starry nights. Second, I love the organization of my space. Since I spend most of my time writing on my computer (I teach French literature), I’ve transformed the master bedroom into my working space and library, and I’ve been using the smaller room as my bedroom. I divided the third space into dining room and living room. Finally, I furnished these spaces by giving each their own style: modern design in the dining and living room; wood tonality in the bedroom (the bed is made of South African wood); two tonalities for the working space (the library shelves are white, and the table I use as desk is in cherry wood from Tennessee). So overall, what I love here? The well-lighted rooms and the space setting and tonalities.

What I Love About My Small Home:: I love the big windows that allow a lot of natural light to enter my small space. What I Love About My Small Home:: I love the original bungalow character of my home. Simple things like the old hex tile on the bathroom floor, wooden medicine cabinet, chunky baseboards, wooden windows, Chambers stove and solid oak front door give this house an established, yet unassuming feel.

What I Love About My Small Home:: My cozy bungalow is classic 1930s California, and filled with mid-century flea market finds and family treasures. In the mix are wood Danish chests, a vintage Gucci coffee table, a West Elm couch, and a really cool 1950s "space clock" that was my dad's. Set in the Silver Lake Hills, my little home has a gorgeous western view from the kitchen, and late afternoon is what I call the "golden hour," when sun floods the kitchen and living room, perfect for a bottle of rosé or some fresh blood oranges from the garden.

What I Love About My Small Home:: Our little home is a Casita Del Rio—it’s right at an entrance to the LA River in Atwater Village, and we’ve become full on river people. We are so lucky to have all these exotic birds, peaceful water, and stunning natural landscape steps from our house. And in the midst of LA freeways, it’s the weirdest thing. The location lifts the spirits with our house filled with reminders of places, people, and experiences that make us happy, and that inspires us to make our stuff! Having a lot of space means nothing if it doesn’t energize you to make your stuff, and there’s always projects happening here. But mostly we love our home because Mr. Furley (the coolest little doggie in the world) lives here.

What I Love About My Small Home:: The fact that we only have 1 bedroom is made up for with the original details throughout. All of the wood was kept in pristine condition and though we live in a garden apartment, we get decent light and have relatively high ceilings. Though we fantasize about houses, it is nice to be able to simultaneously use the "dining room" and "living room" when entertaining, especially because we were able to fit a normal size dining table. There is also a half room which we've turned into a walk-in closet which can feel quite luxurious. I also love that little by little, we're becoming surrounded by DIY projects that we just adore living with!

What I Love About My Small Home:: When we first considered downsizing, we never dreamed such a budget friendly rental property existed in our L.A. suburb. Tacked onto the back of a 1910 California Bungalow and on half an acre of virtually un-lanscaped forest, we set up house in our quirky-cozy, tiny apartment in the trees. We love the history of the home (Norman Rockwell is rumored to have painted in the studio above while on retreat) and the large casement windows that drench us in morning light and bring the outdoors in. The clever floorplan gives the illusion of space and the farm sink and clawfoot tub add such charm!

What I Love About My Small Home:: Lots of stuff. My house was built in the 1940's, so my midcentury-inspired furniture fits in quite well. Most of it was found at thrift stores or on Craigslist, or lovingly built by my super awesome dad. My apartment is on the second floor surrounded by lawns so the view out of any window is lovely. Also, because my house is basically a square split into 4 smaller squares, from any room I can see into 2 other rooms. Which means if something super exciting was going on in 3 rooms at once I would get to partake in all of it!

What I Love About My Small Home:: Our apartment is 99 years old and has managed to retain nearly all its original detail, including Arts and Crafts style plaster moulding, a gas fireplace, and large windows with leaded-glass transoms. It's basically really warm and inviting, providing an interesting contrast to some of our contemporary art and furnishings.
