What I Love About My Small Home:: By far my favorite feature in my home is the wall of glass. Sunlight in Seattle is often rare during the winter months, and I love that the wall of glass combined with my units 10 ft. high ceiling allows light to flood my open plan living area. From my perch on the 31st floor I can see so many of Seattle’s iconic features: the Space Needle and the Pacific Science Center Arches, the Seattle Center Monorail, ferries gliding across Puget Sound, sunsets over the Olympic Mountains, and the ever changing cityscape. My bedroom, on the other hand, is tucked into the back of my unit, and is a warm cozy place during the cold winter months. I also love the mix of vintage accessories that I’ve collected over the years styled against the modern clean lines of my furniture and unit. This mix helps in softening the “edge” that is often associated with a modern home, and gives the space a warm, welcoming feel.

What I Love About My Small Home:: We've been wanting to live in a space like this for years. We appreciate the building's history as a significant design from the 1930's with hints of the Art Deco era. Some of our favorite elements are the triangular bay window that lets in a ton of western light, the view of the city and mountains, the warehouse style windows, the unique archway/alcove by the front door, the hardwoods, the list goes on! This is the first place we've had together, and have enjoyed curating the furnishings to express our style. We've started to dabble in DIY projects, including the dining room table and credenza, with plans for more.

What I Love About My Small Home:: I love that my home is a personal reflection of who I am, where I've been and how far I have come from as a person. It is my tiny sanctuary where I can be surrounded by my favorite colors, textures and collections of silk screened prints and urban vinyl toys I have collected over the years through my travels across the US and Japan. I don't like to own a lot of 'stuff,' but each item displayed in my tiny home holds sentimental value and is a documentation of a life event. Coming home to me is like walking into by own brain, uncluttered yet colorful - a place I can recollect my thoughts and escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. I also love being on the top floor, and with west facing windows I wake up to the sun glaring in my face with the nested birds on my roof chirping all around - it helps me forget the fact that I do live in the heart of downtown, across the street from a hospital.

What I Love About My Small Home:: There is a lot of natural "Old Seattle" character in our building, with its rugged brick walls and 1920s details. The small size of the apartment suits us. What I Love About My Small Home:: It's definitely been refreshing for us to move into a smaller home, as our last apartment was nearly 1200 square feet. We're both pretty quiet people, and our dogs are total couch potatoes, making a large apartment pretty unnecessary. It's been very freeing to downsize, as we now have less to clean and we're really able to focus on making each area of the apartment something that we really love. The William Morris quote "Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful" really rings true for us. Also, we love all of the natural light that we get being in a corner unit. In a city like Seattle, big windows in a home can make a huge difference!
